Going through a difficult period can result in psychological disorders that are not serious, but in some cases, these mental disorders of varying severity can manifest themselves in dangerous behaviors that impact the health of the suffering people.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Mental disorders can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, level of education, etc. There are important determinants that can lead to mental difficulties such as family life, social relationships, socio-economic problems, violence, social intimidation, etc.
What are the signs to be aware of?
Unusual behaviors, mood swings or eating disorders may be the first warning signs. They do not necessarily imply a mental health problem but they can suggest the existence of particular disorders or difficulties.
Early diagnosis increases the chances of recovery and helps achieve better outcomes.
